Our Environmental Mission Statement
Refurbits mission is to achieve environmental improvement, primarily through the sustainable management of waste. Refurbit provides services relating to waste management and the wider environment. This includes refurbishment, recycling and education.
Refurbits role is to assist organisations and individuals in reducing their environmental impact through improved resource management. However, in carrying out this role, we recognise that our day-to-day operations can have a negative environmental impact. Therefore, Refurbit is committed to an ongoing Environmental Management Programme with the aim of minimising the impact of our business operations.
Our environmental programme commits Refurbit to the following:
- compliance with relevant legislation and good practice standards, working where appropriate with government and industry in the application of new policies and legislation
- prevention of pollution and minimisation of resource use
- continual improvement of our performance through monitoring and reviews.
By doing this Refurbits aim is to:
- minimise use of resources, particularly non-renewable products
- be pro-active in the procurement of recycled products, to stimulate the market for secondary materials
- adopt the waste management hierarchy as a framework for improving our waste management systems
- monitor our energy consumption and adopt a programme to reduce use of energy within the office environment
- encourage the use of public transport among employees and sub-contractors for work and commuting
- communicate our policies to all employees, suppliers, clients, and the wider public
- continue to promote good practice and the innovation of environmental solutions, particularly around sustainable resource management.
These policy commitments are translated into quantifiable objectives and targets, which will bereviewed and updated annually. Progress on these commitments will be monitoredby the EMS team and reported on an annual basis to all employees.
